1-1/2 years and still going! These shoes are great and stood the test of time. wear them to school, so a lot of use and he is hard on them (boy of 7-8 years). It was the only thing we had to replace shoelaces. the sole of the shoe is flexible and the leather did well-only requiring a good shoeshine twice. When I bought the shoes 1-1/2 years ago, I don't recall any "break-in" time. they always seemed comfortable for him. I'm disappointed that I don't see a larger size (4-big kid) .... hope to buy another pair!
